Closed achievement gaps for Black students as a middle school principal within five years.
Resolved over 100 Office of Civil Rights violations as ESL Director, leading to statewide adoption of new English Language Development standards.
Spearheaded the expansion of Dual Language programs, ensuring more students gain the benefits of bilingual education.
Advocated for and contributed to full-time Kindergarten and the successful passage of PreK for all.

Dr. Truong’s personal journey makes her uniquely qualified to lead with both heart and expertise. As a former refugee from Vietnam, she knows firsthand the power of education to transform lives. She worked her way from a school secretary to becoming an influential education leader, shaping policy at local, state, and national levels.
